Mahlkönig E80 GBW Cleaning SOP

Regular Cleaning: To be done every day. 

Housing Cleaning: 

  1. Switch off the grinder.
  2. Use a brush to clean the following grinder components:
  • the spout
  • the portafilter intake/basket holder
  • the portafilter support
  • the screws for adjusting the portafilter support (left and right).
  1. Pull the drip tray forward and out of the grinder.

Use a damp cloth to wipe down the casing and the drip tray as required, but at least once a week. 

  1. The load cell cover is fixed to the grinder by means of a magnetic holder. Lift the cover upwards to remove it from the grinder.
  2. Use a brush to remove ground coffee, etc. from the area of the load cell.
  3. Re-attach all parts removed for cleaning.

Spout Cleaning: 

  1. Pull the spout downwards out of the lock.
  2. Use a brush to clean the spout on the casing (spout locking mechanism).
  3. Clean the spout with a damp cloth, pulling the towel through the spout and then dry it. Flapper Cleaning:
  4. Remove the grinder lid as described in the deep cleaning section, steps 15. 2. Remove the flapper from the recess in the built-in grinder.
  5. Clean the flapper with lukewarm water and then dry it (The flapper must be dry before reinserting it).

Deep Cleaning: The grinder should be deep cleaned every Monday and Thursday.

  1. Switch off the grinder.
  2. Remove the bean hopper from the grinder.
  3. Pull out as much coffee as you can using your hands.
  4. Vacuum out excess coffee before removing grinder lid.
  5. Use a flathead screwdriver to unscrew the two securing screws of the grinder lid. Push the bean hopper intake downwards and turn it anticlockwise as far as it will go.
  6. You can now lift off the grinder lid.
  7. Use a slot screwdriver to unscrew the three securing screws of the fixed disc flange.

  1. Turn the fixed disc flange clockwise as far as it will go and remove it from the chamber.e80 gbw sop p2 OZO Coffee Companye80 gbw sop p3 OZO Coffee Company
  2. Clean the fixed grinding disc on the fixed disc flange and the rotating grinding disc in the grinding chamber with a soft brush; use a wire brush for the fine grinders and the screw holes and screw heads.
  3. Remove the excess ground coffee from the grinding chamber with a hand-held vacuum.e80 gbw sop p4 OZO Coffee Company
  4. Place the fixed disc flange on the grinding chamber.
  5. Turn the fixed disc flange anticlockwise and tighten the three securing screws with a slot screwdriver.
  6. Place the grinder lid on the grinder, turn the bean hopper intake clock- wise as far as it will go and tighten the securing screws on the grinder lid.
  7. Place the bean hopper on the grinder.

Troubleshooting: Grinder is not grinding/Clogged 

Pull the silicon flapper out and clean it. Vacuum out the burr chamber and surrounding area. Remove the spout and brush out the inside of the spout, then pull a towel through the spout.
